Coronation Street: A brand-new BBC crime thriller is ready to excite the viewers as there’s a gripping murder mystery waiting to unfold in a seaside town. The psychological drama will not just explore an exciting case—but will also delve deeper into the tangled past of two detectives who are forced to work together once more.
A Murder Investigation
The One That Got Away follows DI Ffion Lloyd (Elen Rhys) and DS Rick Sheldon (Richard Harrington) as they reunite to investigate the murder of a nurse. However, the case isn’t just another assignment—it forces them to confront deep-seated personal issues from their past relationship. The series, written by Law & Order UK’s Catherine Tregenna, presents a deeply emotional story.
The murder raises questions about a historical conviction and hints at the terrifying possibility of a copycat killer. With each clue, Ffion and Rick are drawn deeper into a web of secrets. All of them threaten to destroy the lives of those involved. What makes the show more exciting is the forensic examination of not just the crime but also the detectives’ past, which makes the series intense and unpredictable.
Old Corrie Star
Filmed on location in Pembroke Dock and South Wales, the drama boasts a stellar Welsh cast. It includes Rhian Blythe (Keeping Faith), Sule Rimi (Day of the Jackal), Ioan Hefin (Gangs of London), and Aled Pugh (The Light in the Hall). Soap fans will recognise Ian Puleston-Davies, best known for his role as Owen Armstrong in Coronation Street.
Ian first appeared on the cobbles in 2010 and portrayed the builder who quickly became a central figure in Weatherfield. His storylines ranged from turbulent family relationships to financial ruin at the hands of the infamous Pat Phelan.
After five years on the soap, Ian departed the show in 2015. Owen left for Aberdeen following his breakup with Anna Windass. Ian spoke about his decision at the time: “It felt like a good point to move on. I took some time to focus on new projects. I certainly would never rule out returning to the role of Owen at some point in the future if I was asked.” So, will we ever see him back in the cobbles? Only the upcoming Coronation Street spoilers can reveal the rest. Until then, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily.
