Georgia May Foote, best known for her role as Katy Armstrong on Coronation Street, has shared some deeply upsetting real-life news. The actress revealed that her beauty business, something she’s quietly built over the years, was destroyed in a fire that also affected several others.
From the Coronation Street to the Salon
Since her time on Corrie, Georgia has stayed busy both on and off screen. Alongside her acting work and her stint on Strictly Come Dancing, she had also carved out a second career. For the past four years, she’d been working as a nail technician, running her own small beauty studio.
Her workspace was inside a Storage World facility in Middleton, where she’d built something she was proud of. Over time, she’d grown a loyal client base and put real care into her setup. However, that all changed overnight.
One Night, and Everything Was Gone
On Thursday, Georgia took to Instagram to explain what had happened. In a video, she revealed that a huge fire had broken out at the Middleton storage unit, and her studio had been badly damaged.
She told fans that some of them probably knew she had been doing nails for the last four years alongside her acting work. She shared that her studio, which she described as her “beautiful little” space, had been caught in the blaze.
But, she wasn’t the only one affected. Georgia explained that many other people had businesses or personal possessions inside the same building, and they lost everything too. Her heart, she said, went out to all of them.
What made the situation even worse, she added, was that beauticians like her rely on tools and stock that take years to collect. While moving to a new space might be possible, she explained that the real challenge was losing all the equipment needed to work. Without those tools, she and her colleagues couldn’t earn, and many now had no way of starting over.
What stood out most in her video was how Georgia wasn’t just focused on her own loss. Following her post, fans quickly flooded the comments with support. With so much support coming in already, there’s hope that Georgia and the community can begin to rebuild what’s lost.
