The actress has now discussed how she ‘sobbed all day long’ after learning that she was diagnosed with ADHD. She took to her social media and revealed how she’s been living with the condition now. EastEnders star Martine McCutcheon has spoken about getting diagnosed with a health diagnosis that she initially dismissed as a ‘lazy label.’ The legendary soap star is best known for her role as Tiffany Mitchell, which she portrayed for four years and later appeared in the massively popular romcom Love Actually. During an appearance on the ADHD Chatter Podcast, the actress recounted when she first received her diagnosis.
She said, ‘At first, I was like, ‘They’ve got it wrong, and I forgot about it.’ But later when Martine’s mother pointed out that she had been diagnosed with ADHD, so she should read a book about it. The actress also explained she felt she initially ‘wasn’t ready’ to face her diagnosis, as she was dealing with the death of her brother at the time. After feeling ready, she started reading more, and then she sobbed.

The soap star opened up about her struggles, saying: One day, I just sobbed, and I felt so sad for all the things that could have been so different if only I’d known all the choices that I would have made from a different place, from a different angle that would have been so much more kind and compassionate to who I was.” Martine has previously been diagnosed with several other diseases like CFS, Lyme disease, and fibromyalgia, which had caused her a lot of pain and exhaustion for over a decade.
According to the NHS, ADHD is a condition that impacts people’s behaviour and can lead to difficulties with concentrating, hyperactivity and impulsiveness.
