EastEnders is one of the most loved soaps across the UK. Fans and viewers like the drenching dose of drama they get with all the plot twists, explosive revelations, and whatnot. But at times, the same fans get shocked to learn about their beloved star’s actual life outside the soap. This time, Katie Jarvis shocked all her fans by revealing how tough life had been after she left the soap. Keep reading to learn further details.
EastEnders’ Actress Katie’s Shocking Revelation
EastEnders former star Katie Jarvis, who played Hayley Slater on the soap, has made a shocking revelation. Her career was on the verge of ending after a racial brawl kicked in. She also highlighted that she ended up doing a job that was unpaid and was for 200 hours, and later she had to face a 60-hour rehabilitation order. But after this, Jarvis did not stop; she returned to acting with Rise of the Footsoldier: Origins. She played Donna in it. She has focused on looking after a simpler life and her two kids.
After Katie left EastEnders, another member of her family lost their jobs. Soon after which, she was unnoticed for the next three months. But later she joined the position of security at B&M to support her family while her sister was already hit by the unemployment storm. The actress explained why she chose to work at such a place where anyone could recognise her. She said, “Rather than sit at home and be depressed and miserable, I thought I’d go out and work with my sister Becky.”
It’s a Never-Ending List, Says Katie Over Her Job Experience
She further explained how both the sisters then started working at the same place in security. Katie added that it was Becky who got that job. She added that the news was out a week later, and she started getting calls, and later they were on the cover of newspapers.
Jarvis then also spoke about how she was ‘job-shamed’ for switching careers. Katie highlighted how her life was so calm till she was working in EastEnders. “You can’t win; it doesn’t matter what you do; you can’t win,” she told the Criminal Connection Podcast.
Speaking with Grazia, the soap star elaborated that it is how acting careers work. Gigs come and go, and after her contract ended with the soap, she found a new job. Reportedly she is now working at a garage and had many jobs in between her gigs. “I’ve done a railway engineering course, I’m qualified in nails, I’ve done all sorts; the list is never ending,” she added.
Despite it all, she revealed that she feels happy and settled in life. She also added that there is no such chance of returning to soap anytime soon. For more such EastEnders updates and spoilers, keep reading Soap Opera Daily.
