Former EastEnders Icon Shaun William, popularly known as Barry Evans on the BBC One soap, has had one of the best career trajectories. The popular actor also recently appeared alongside Cher, the singing sensation, in a new ad. It is safe to say that it was definitely Barry’s honour to perform with Cher. Long-time viewers of the soap remember that Barry died after his wife, Janine Butcher, pushed him over a cliff in 2004. Even since then, Shaun’s fame has grown, and he is still a relevant name in many households. His fans have seen him in various TV shows in different roles over time, such as Life’s Too Short, The Bill, and the daytime drama Doctors.
Along with exceptional acting skills, Shaun is also a performer and is selling out venues across Britain with his karaoke act, Barrioke. His karaoke skills inspired his I Got You Babe duet with Cher for UKTV, which rebranded as on-demand service U this week. Barry actor left his EastEnders character behind and is reportedly earning half a million pounds now.

While speaking to The Sun at the launch party of the streaming service, he said, “It started with being on Extras, then it got to a point where I thought, ‘I’m never going to win an Oscar’, and I came to terms with that. I’m proud of the fact I’m so well-known for it, even though I got pushed off a cliff over 20 years ago. I’m embracing it.”
As for his stint on BBC One soap, Shaun’s character made his debut in Walford in 1994 and played the role of a paramedic. He became a fan favourite character over time, so much so that his wedding to Natalie Price drew more than 20 million viewers on New Year’s Eve in 1999. After giving the show his ten years, Shaun wanted to explore other opportunities, and this led to his dramatic departure from the show.
