The General Hospital star Bryan Craig, who was recently asked to reprise Morgan Corinthos, initially hesitated. Yep, a two-time Daytime Emmy winner needed some details. However, he was all in once he found out he would act alongside TV dad Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos). Craig said, “I was like, ‘Say less! Yeah, I’m down,’” referring to his upcoming August 5th appearance. Read to know more about Bryan’s recent experience.
Bryan Craig’s Journey Back to Port Charles
Since his General Hospital days, Craig has moved on to primetime shows like Grand Hotel and Good Trouble. He’s grateful that the ABC soap still wants him back, describing it as “a really nice compliment.” Moreover, the soap stalwart was also surprised no one else had taken over the role. He added, “I’m very grateful because I love working with Maurice and what we did towards the end.”
For context, Bryan’s character was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, just like Sonny. So, how did Bryan feel about returning to the set after almost six years? Craig felt surreal and revealed nothing at the studio had changed except some stuff. But here comes the craziest part! “None of my former co-stars had changed at all! They didn’t age! It’s like GH is a time capsule or something.”
Meanwhile, Craig went behind the camera while Maurice was filming to have fun. After the scene, he pretended to be the director and gave his TV dad a note. “Yeah, that was great. So, if you could just suck a little less on the next go-round, that’d be great.’ Benard soon realized it and started laughing. GH hasn’t revealed much about Morgan’s upcoming scenes with Sonny.
But Sonny being off his meds for a while due to Valentin Cassadine’s and Ava Jerome’s scheming calls for drama. It looks like a touching father-son reunion is on the horizon. In addition, the GH alum wasn’t sure which side of Morgan’s personality to show in the scenes—feisty, brooding, or out-of-control. “I didn’t know, so I was just kind of prepared for whatever the director wanted.”
But Craig was content with whatever they filmed, calling it powerful. Furthermore, he’s grateful to fans for being zealous about his return after ten years. Craig said, “It’s such a compliment. It feels really nice, and I appreciate it.” He can’t believe it’s been eleven years since he first played Morgan. “I was 21 or 22. I’ve grown a lot as a person and as an actor since then.”
He credits GH with helping him hone his craft. He can still break [scripts] down in a very quick and efficient way, all thanks to GH! Don’t miss out on more General Hospital celeb updates at Soap Opera Daily. How did you feel about watching Craig after so long? Tell us in the comments.
