General Hospital star Cameron Mathison can’t seem to catch a break. As if losing his home and everything he ever owned wasn’t daunting much, the actor is now facing the heat of GH viewers, too. Sometimes, it so happens that fans of a soap opera can get too caught up and forget how the on-screen persona of any person is not who they are. A similar thing happened to Cameron Mathison recently. It sounds a little scary to us.
Recently, Cameron Mathison and his other General Hospital co-stars, including Laura Wright, Finola Hughes, Maurice Benard, Tanisha Harper, and Donnell Turner, appeared on the Jennifer Hudson Show. While in conversation, Cameron made a big revelation. He opened up about how he has been dealing with everything around him.
For the fans who don’t know, Cameron Mathison lost his home in the recent LA wildfires. He lost not just his home but a place. But, he thought it was a testament to how much he loved his family and kids. He went on to say that while it was a very tough time. Mathison is grateful to his co-actors and that whatever is happening on the soap opera. He says that Laura Wright’s character yelling on him, was a welcome distraction.
While Cameron seemed to have stayed grounded and thankful for everything, he shared an instance about how sometimes on-screen personas seep into real life, and that has got us thinking. He recalled an instance where he was at a supermarket. One of GH’s fans had recognized him there and went on like; I hate Drew Cain and his actions. While saying things under their breath were still okay, the fan went on to throw an apple from across the produce section at the actor.
While Cameron seemed to be smiling as he told this story, he also considered that it could be worse. But, as fans, it makes us think that sometimes it’s so important to keep that discretion on the fact that actors are not who their characters are. Do you believe what happened with Mathison was fair? Tell us in the comments below. General Hospital airs on ABC all weekdays. Watch what Drew is upto next there. Also, keep coming back to Soap Opera Daily for all the updates.
It’s disgusting and low key ridiculously crazy to attack an actor as if they are really the character they portray!
These are hard working actors, people! We love them, and love to hate them- because they’re so very talented, at bringing their fictitious characters to life-and entertain us. So please don’t throw an apple at any one of them, at a supermarket. Instead-thank them for the “continuing drama, and laughter”! Kudos to GH staff and stars. Thanks for the fun!
Cameron Mathison is an excellent actor. For people hating Drew that much is a tribute to his talent.
Yes I agree – a very talented actor who is doing a great job. The fact that people are hating him is a testimony to his great acting.
I have loved Cameron’s acting way back in AMC. My only disappointment is how much the writers have changed Drew’s personality on GH. How can someone character change so drastically. Please, let him be the kind, thoughtful character he was before Steve Burton’s character, Jason came back. I love Cameron and Steve both.
Maybe Drew has a brain tumor, like Franco!
There are some people who are unable to separate the actor from the character they play. My dear mother was one of those. She never was in a position where she was able to confront anyone, but I can think of a few actors I know she would have slapped, or at least “lit into” had the opportunity arisen! Of course it’s not right! As much as we dislike the present drew, I wish Cameron the best and pray for him.
I agree! I’m to the point I hate Drew and Cameron, the person, has always gotten on my last nerve! I loved him on AMC, but he had an actress who balanced him. Willow doesn’t. Willow has daddy issues. Making out in the nursery was ridiculous, totally crazy.
If, and it’s a big if Willow wins sole custody Michael can put Nanny cams all over Drew’s house. Better yet, he can put them in his office. There really isn’t any reason logical reason the judge shouldn’t give joint custody. And he could allow Willow to take kids to DC, with Michael.going to get them on his weeks. Or vice versa.
Right now Michael and Willow are at odds, mostly because of Drew putting worms in Willow’s ear. Once the judge makes their decision, then we can really start talking trash!
Cameron is a wonderful actor in what ever role he plays. The fans are used to seeing him as a good guy so this just proves how talented and believable he is while in character. There are many people who get reality and their show that is on 5 day per week into real life. This is a scary situation. Even the good characters get the ones that have reality blurred. I hope that they made and example out of her.
