General Hospital celebrates a special guest star! Having guest appearances on soaps is always fun because you never know who might pop up on your screen. This time, GH extended an invitation to Debbie Matenopoulos for a two-day visit. Debbie needs no introduction, as she’s a renowned TV host, author, and journalist. You can catch her in episodes airing on August 22 and August 23. Read on to know all the deets.
Debbie Matenopoulos Shares Her GH Experience
During her guest stint on General Hospital, Matenopoulos will play the producer of “Home & Heart.” It’s a fictional home shopping network in Port Charles, just like QVC. Much to our delight, Debbie will act alongside a star-studded lineup. These include Morgan Fairchild, Jane Elliot, Rena Sofer, Amanda Setton, Kirsten Storms, and Eva LaRue.
And let us tell you that the TV personality helps introduce a clever promotional tie-in for the shop. After all, her expertise in skincare shouldn’t go in vain, right? Additionally, the ABC soap is officially launching the website ShopHomeandHeart.com, allowing viewers to purchase skincare products and more.
One of their portable skincare devices, “The Deceptor,” is inspired by the GH storyline. You can actually see the lines blurring between fiction and reality. Isn’t it exciting? We can’t wait to see what’s coming up for Debbie in her guest role. Moreover, she teased about her storyline in a virtual interview on the Michael Fairman Channel.
Matenopoulos began by discussing her deep love for the show and shared memories from her time on The View (1997-1999). She also reflected on working with iconic Barbara Walters and talked about her friendship with Cameron Mathison. If you don’t know, Debbie and Cameron previously co-hosted the Hallmark Channel’s morning talk show, Home & Family.
Now let’s talk about her storyline, there’s a hint of drama on the set of “Home & Heart.” Furthermore, the journalist shared that her character, Michelle, gets into a sticky situation when Lois overhears something before going on air. Debbie chose to stay mum about more details but promised viewers, “It’s so good.”
Matenopoulos also praised Jane Elliot, calling her one of the coolest women she has ever met. “Jane has the best stories, though some probably can’t be repeated in public, but they’re hysterical.” Unfortunately, Cameron Mathison wasn’t on set when Debbie filmed her scenes. But she is eager for a scene with Cameron, hoping for a little Easter egg for fans of Home & Family and GH.
