Dominic Zamprogna Calls Kelly “Amazing”!
Kelly Monaco’s 21-year-long run on GH came to an end after Sam McCall passed away during an organ transplant surgery on the show. It was a heartbreaking moment for all the characters as the city of Port Charles turned gloomy in mourning of Sam’s loss. Sam spent her last moments with her love Dante Falconeri, who was by her bedside during those moments. He bid her an emotional farewell with his monologue, lastly saying “Goodbye Sam”.
Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) has finally opened up on Kelly’s exit and Sam’s demise on the show. He revealed, “My monologues were her last scenes, so we finished those scenes, and I basically said goodbye to Kelly then and there.”
“Close Doors Bring Greater Things” – Dominic Zamprogna
Dominic called Kelly’s performances during her last days on the show as “amazing” and “impressive.” He also added that after working with Kelly for so many years, he had gotten to know her better, which wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. He described her as a remarkable person “tough as nails and admirable in so many ways.” He also playfully mentioned, that “It’s cool to be her friend.”
He also said their bond would continue to grow, “It won’t end,” although “there is still an ending because you’re not working with someone anymore.” Clearly, the actors had spent so much time together on set, making her departure a difficult moment for them.
The actor also revealed a piece of advice he gave Kelly as they parted ways on set. Dominic said, “I’ve found that the greatest things in my life have come when it feels like a door is closing.” He added, “So I was really trying to emphasize that to Kelly.”
That was Dominic’s way of wishing Kelly well for the future, but Dante will need time to grieve Sam’s loss on General Hospital.
