In the recent General Hospital episodes, fans and characters were shocked alike, when Jason Morgan arrived at Brook Lynn and Chase’s wedding. It was a pleasant surprise indeed! As for the explanation, he offered that he agreed to attend the wedding at the behest of his beloved mother – Monica Quartermaine.
Jason shared that Monica is down with pneumonia that’s why she couldn’t attend the family affair on General Hospital. Thus, she asked him to attend in her stead, a request he happily obliged. However, in reality, actress Leslie Charleson (Monica) is dealing with some health complications of her own. The last time she was spotted, she was in a wheelchair.
We can’t help but wonder if we have already seen the last of Leslie as Monica Quartermaine on General Hospital. Currently, there are many rumors making rounds that her persistent health issues could keep her away from the GH sets rather permanently. If that’s the case then we really could have seen the last of her.
Surely, there is always the option to recast a character when their portrayer exits the soap or becomes unavailable. However, General Hospital has often refrained from recasting legacy characters, especially the ones who have been part of the canvas for as long as Monica has. Besides, even fans often create an uproar against such recasts.
However, we do hope that the makers find a way to address the obvious absence of Monica Quartermaine. Especially, when her dear son Jason has just returned from the dead! What do you say? Would you be okay with an explanation for her absence, or would you like to see the character recast and brought back?

Your absence is greatly felt. Please maintain your health and ensure to take care of yourself. You will always be remembered in everyone’s thoughts and prayers.
No recast! An explanation would be better, we could still keep her in our hearts! Recast will never work, Leslie Charleson will never be replaced in our minds and hearts as Monica
