General Hospital actress Katelyn MacMullen (Willow Corinthos) is still not over Chad Duell’s (Michael Corinthos) departure. The duo, whose friendship is as tight as jeans, have been working side by side since 2018. It translated beautifully in their on-screen chemistry. In fact, their characters got hitched more than once! With Chad’s gone, MacMullen is feeling all this bittersweet mix of emotions. So, how does Katelyn feel and what comes next for her and Willow?
General Hospital: Katelyn Couldn’t Process Chad’s Exit
In an interview with SOD, the General Hospital actress revealed that Chad’s exit hit her like a ton of bricks. The co-stars were just chilling on the set when the Michael Corinthos actor dropped the bombshell. Subsequently, Katelyn started reeling because they spent nearly every day on set laughing and creating memories.
“I was like, ‘Wait, I can’t imagine this. I’ve seen you every single day since I started working here,’” she said. On the contrary, MacMullen became Duell’s personal cheerleader and wished him luck. The actress explained, “If this is what he wants, then I’m happy for him.” Friendship goals, indeed! Moreover, Katelyn reflected on her good old days with Chad.
She revealed how they both enjoyed many storylines together and had been through a lot together beyond GH. Willow’s portrayer expressed, “I’m so used to seeing this [Duell’s] face and hearing this voice. Where did you go?” Interestingly, Duell literally took MacMullen under his wings during her screen test, sharing tips and wisdom on camera presence.

Kate Can’t Forget Chad’s Goofy Side
Furthermore, it was Chad’s sense of humor that really lit up Katelyn’s days. “Chad is extremely funny; he’s a goofball,” Katelyn gushed. According to her, his pranks or jokes between scenes eased the dramatic tension while shooting serious sequences. It’s been just a few weeks since Chad’s last episode, but his fellow soap mate is still in denial.
“Maybe I’m in denial because I still feel like he works here!” she shared while still being hopeful. With Michael disappearing from Willow’s life, Katelyn has questions of her own. The soap diva wonders what Willow’s life will look like without Michael in the picture. Same girl, we’re all dying to know what the future holds for Willow.
