One thing that sets apart soaps like General Hospital from any other TV show is the long-long legacy and history they have. Not just with plots, storylines and characters, but also the actors that have worked together decade after decade, sharing hours of their days with each other on set.
Thus, when one of them leaves, it most certainly leaves a hole in the other cast and crew’s hearts. And this stands especially true for General Hospital vet -Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie Spencer). She was so immensely loved and cherished by all her co-stars that her passing really hit them all hard.
Thus, when they all had to huddle together to film her memorial episode for General Hospital, we have a feeling that the tears they shed were very real, and came from their hearts and not glycerin bottles. In a recent chat with Soap Opera Digest, actress Laura Wright (Carly) called that experience intense and difficult.
“I think everyone felt it, took it home the whole week,” the General Hospital star recalled. Furthermore, Laura recalled that after their filming, they felt like Jacklyn had sent them a message or a sign. There was a rainbow outside the studio as bright as her smile, recalled Laura.
Talking about coming to terms with the intense emotions, Laura pointed that “we all went home and took some hot baths and had a glass of wine and went to bed.” The General Hospital actress continued that the decompressing or really letting it go, it is not so easy.
But then from an actor’s point of view she added that if the character has to continue from that loss, then the actor may not want the feeling to leave completely. Because if it does, then they have to start again from scratch.
Well, honestly, it really does sound very hard and emotionally taxing. We really must give our stars a lot more credit for their portrayals. What do you say? Tell us in the comments. Meanwhile, stay tuned to Soap Opera daily for more General Hospital spoilers and updates.
