Kathleen Gati is one of the most loved cast members of General Hospital. She is famous for portraying Liesl Obrecht on the ABC sudser. Despite her popularity with the GH fanbase, it has been a while since we saw her last. Kathleen’s last memorable stint as Liesl was during Willow’s cancer stretch. She donated her bone marrow to save Willow’s life.
Many fans would remember that the General Hospital storyline involved the iconic Victor Cassadine kidnapping Liesl Obrecht right before the bone marrow surgery. Drew Cain then led a rescue operation to Greenland. The mission not only rescued Liesl and brought her back home in time for the surgery, it also culminated in Victor Cassadine’s shocking death in a blast.
Unfortunately, the bone marrow transplant storyline was the last time we saw her. And it has been several months since then. At this point, we can’t help but wonder if actress Kathleen Gati is done with GH for good? We did a deep dive into the internet to dig up intel, but we did not come across any information that points to the seasoned actress’ exit from the soap.
Time For A Fun New Story
In fact, in August 2024, some fans took to social media to speculate that Liesl may have stolen Kristina’s baby. They theorized that since the soap did not show the baby’s body on-screen, it could be possible that Liesl stole her. “Did anyone see Christina’s baby after it died? Where is LIESL? lol @gatitweets Are you behaving girl?” one fan asked on X. Kathleen cheekily replied to the tweet claiming that she is “Mostly NOT behaving!” However, she also added a laughing face emoji to her tweet, indicating that she is only joking.
Although we know that Liesl did not steal the baby, we are still hoping that she will pop back into town soon. Even if it is to stir some trouble. It is always so much fun to see her on-screen. And it is about time she got a new front-burner storyline! Kathleen Gati is terrific and is hugely underutilized.
