Coronation Street fans are used to a bit of soap logic. They can accept shock exits, surprise returns, and even the odd villain popping up out of nowhere. But some things about the Street still leave viewers totally baffled.
A recent fan discussion took a funny turn when people started sharing the little Corrie details that just do not make sense. And once the questions started, they kept coming.
How Do All These People Fit In Those Houses?
This was one of the biggest talking points. Fans could not stop wondering how some of the Street’s families manage to fit into such small homes. The Barlows were a big example. With Ken, Tracy, Amy, Steve, and Cassie all there, viewers are struggling to work out who sleeps where.

The same goes for the Platts. Over the years, that house has seemed to hold far more people than it realistically should. Fans know soap families often live a bit tighter than real ones, but even by Corrie standards, it feels like a squeeze.
Chesney and Gemma’s home also came up. Viewers were left wondering how Chesney, Gemma, Joseph, and the quads are all meant to fit in that house without sleeping on top of each other.
The Layouts Make Even Less Sense
It is not just the number of people. It is the buildings themselves. Fans pointed out that the inside of the Rovers does not seem to match the outside at all. The kitchen, toilets, and back room all seem bigger or placed differently depending on the scene.

Todd’s flat also got called out. Some viewers said the bedroom looks far too small, while others questioned how the stairs and windows fit with the outside of the building. Roy’s flat above Roy’s Rolls is another mystery. Fans know it exists, but they still cannot quite picture how the space works.
Why Are There Still Payphones?
The question that kicked off the whole discussion was simple: why do the Rovers Return and Roy’s Rolls still have payphones? Some fans said Roy having one actually suits his character. That feels believable. But the one in the Rovers puzzled people more.

A few viewers came up with their own explanation. They guessed it could still be there for older customers or for people needing to call a taxi after a night in the pub. That is probably the most sensible answer fans could come up with.
Where Do Missing Relatives In Coronation Street Go?
Another thing fans cannot stop noticing is how family members disappear once they leave the Street. Viewers pointed out that when big events happen, some absent characters do not return, do not video call, and sometimes do not even get mentioned properly.

That always stands out, especially during funerals, illnesses, or family crises. It makes the Street feel strange at times, because people who were once central suddenly seem forgotten.
Fans also joked about how easy life can be in Weatherfield when the plot needs it.
People seem to get appointments quickly, move house in a few hours, and leave town with one small bag. Nearly everyone works close to home, knows everyone’s number, and spends half their life in the café or pub.
At the same time, this is also a street full of crime, trauma, and nonstop drama. So the biggest mystery may be this: why would anyone choose to move there at all?
That is really what makes these little mysteries so fun. Fans know Corrie is not meant to be fully realistic. Still, the odd details stand out. But maybe that is part of the charm. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
