It looks like someone from Summer Bay is heading to Dublin. A familiar face from Home and Away has landed a role in a popular Irish drama, and the new season promises plenty of family drama, secrets, and surprises.
From Home and Away to Something Exciting!
Home and Away star Rick Donald is heading to Ireland! He’s joined the cast of The Dry, a hit RTÉ drama now filming its third and final season. Fans will remember Rick as Kieran Baldivis on Home and Away, but this time he’s playing Daryl, a handsome and mysterious Aussie stranger who meets the show’s lead character, Shiv Sheridan.
Shiv, played by Róisín Gallagher, is a recovering alcoholic trying to stay on track after returning to Dublin. Daryl walks in just as her world is already hanging by a thread. Yep, drama incoming.
Rick is no stranger to quirky roles. You might have seen him in Australia’s Sexiest Tradie, Educators, or even as Danny in the Aussie version of The Office. Now he’s set to stir things up in The Dry’s final chapter.
The Final Season Is Going All In
Filming has already started, and the show’s original cast, including Siobhán Cullen, Ciarán Hinds, Adam Richardson, and Pom Boyd, are all back. According to creator Nancy Harris, fans should prepare themselves.
Nancy said it’s been a joy to see people connect with the Sheridans, calling them dysfunctional yet relatable. She promised this season would dig even deeper into the family’s mess and get much more honest, raw, and real.
The series follows 35-year-old Shiv, who returns home after a decade in London, hoping for a fresh start. Instead of finding support, she faces judgment, tension, and unresolved issues. Now, Daryl enters the picture just as some long-buried secrets threaten to explode.
