Home and Away star Cameron Daddo’s health hit an unexpected low last year! It all started when the actor suffered a stomach ache and went to see a doctor. Little did he know that it would lead to a surprising and dangerous diagnosis. The Aussie actor learned the hard way what drinking dirty water can do to your gut. Read further to get the full scoop!
Home and Away: All About Daddo’s Shocking Diagnosis
The Home and Away actor was left reeling when he got his tummy CT scanned. The doctor found three aneurysms inside his gut– no wonder his stomach was hurting. “Sobering words when delivered by your specialist,” Daddo admitted to The Daily Telegraph. Was it that serious?
According to the expert, if they hadn’t spotted the aneurysms in time, only an autopsy would have exposed their existence. It turned out that Cameron swallowed filthy beach water and started feeling uneasy. It was because of a dangerous parasite that had entered his system.
Moreover, the doctor told the actor bluntly that his aneurysm was in bad shape. And guess what? The specialist told Daddo, “There’s a good chance you may not make it through next year.” The H&A star had no choice but to get it surgically operated, and it went well! He ended up with TEN stents to keep his blood flow in check and the aneurysms under control.
Cameron Is Game For Double-Duty!
In fact, Cameron spent a few days in intensive care, but it all paid off. He revealed, “So I’m all connected, I’m plumbed, and the blood is running the way it needs to.” What about the aneurysms? They are now well-protected and are back in full force. While the actor had a lot going on in his personal life, fans missed him on the Aussie soap.
In 2020, Daddo first arrived in Summer Bay as Evan Slater, but then he surprised everyone later that year. He returned as Evan’s twin brother, Owen. “Fortunately, I had some time between playing the two characters, he said. However, Evan had to die, and the show started focusing on Owen’s backstory.
Cameron never got the thrill of playing both characters simultaneously. “Now that would have been fun!” he shared while admitting how invested he was in Owen’s storyline. Meanwhile, Daddo felt “bittersweet” waving goodbye to the show and hoped he could stay for longer. Why did they let him go just like that?
