Home and away fans have a dedicated fan base that roots for Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor. And we’re not surprised since these two serve some real-life couple goals. However, there’s a new challenge for the duo, and it comes in the form of a long-distance relationship. So, how are they planning to deal with it? Let’s find out.
Home and Away: The H&A Duo Face A New Setback
Home and Away stars Sophie and Patrick made us fall in love with their characters, Ziggy Astoni and Dean Thompson. Sadly, their magical spell ended when the duo left Summer Bay in 2023. However, their departure served them well as they became globetrotters and traveled across scenic Europe.
Since their departure two years ago, Sophie and Patrick have remained side by side. But now they will be experiencing a new hurdle in their relationship—being apart. While Patrick continues to live in the UK for work opportunities, Sophie has left for Australia. And let us tell you that adjusting to the distance hasn’t been easy for them.
But why did the H&A actress return to the Down Under? “The grey weather was a reason I had to come back, as I kept getting sick over there,” she revealed. Thankfully, her bond with Patrick remains tight, and she’s proud that Patrick is still chasing his adventures. After all, they are miles apart now, and the loneliness can creep in anytime.

Nevertheless, the former soap actors continue to support each other through it all. “[Long-distance relationships] can get complicated sometimes because we don’t know any different,” Dillman explained. Mind you, this is the longest they’ve spent apart since their relationship started.
But there’s still a silver lining! We’ll get to see Patrick and Sophie acting alongside as they reprise their H&A roles. Yep, they are heading back to Summer Bay to deliver some wholesome Dean and Ziggy reunion moments. The news first broke out in October last year. For Sophie, saying yes to the comeback was almost a no-brainer.
“[We] couldn’t say no,” she said, calling it a “dream” opportunity to reunite with their Summer Bay family. Additionally, the actress teased that the storyline is high on drama and fans will be in for a treat! So, don’t get disheartened over Sophie and Patrick’s LDR since their onscreen reunion is just around the corner.
