It’s one of those weeks in Home and Away where happiness and heartbreak land at the same time. Mackenzie keeps pushing through after everything she has been through, trying to act normal but a message from someone very close to her is about to knock the wind out of her. And when it arrives, everything changes.
Mac Tries to Carry On After Losing the Baby in Home and Away
Mac recently found out she was pregnant after months of IVF treatment with Levi, and for a short while, it felt like their dream was finally happening. Then she miscarried, and it became her second devastating loss after the ectopic pregnancy she had with Ari back in 2021.
Instead of slowing down or talking about it, she throws herself into organising a cosy dinner with Levi, Mali and Abigail, hoping staying busy will help her breathe again. Levi steps back from work to deal with the loss and feels stunned when Mac announces she’s going straight back to work the next day.
On top of all this, the Bay gets heartbreaking news, Theo has died. Alf tells Mali and Abby, and Levi panics when he hears, worried that Mac won’t be able to handle another tragedy. Mac overhears just enough to realise people are treating her like she might break.
Levi admits he’s been protecting her and wants them to face their grief together, but Mac shuts the conversation down and heads to work instead. Later at Salt, Dana talks about how important it is to hold loved ones close after moments like this, and it hits Mac harder than she expects.
Dean and Ziggy’s Baby Arrives and Mac Falls Apart
Dean texts to say, “She’s here,” along with a photo of his and Ziggy’s newborn daughter, Danielle. For a second, Mac feels thrilled for them, she loves her brother and Ziggy. But then reality crashes in. The timing hurts, and she breaks down, overwhelmed by the reminder of what she just lost. Downstairs, Mali and Abby react with excitement, then quickly realise what the news must be doing to Mac. That night, Mali gently tells her she can talk to him if she wants, instead of forcing herself to talk to Levi.
Mac starts to open up a bit, then suddenly decides she should fly to Queensland to help Dean and Ziggy and spend time with little Izzy. By the next morning, she has already found a cheap flight leaving within hours. Mali alerts Levi, who rushes back to the farmhouse to find Mac packing. She says she needs space, and she doesn’t ask whether Levi is okay being left alone with his grief. Levi begs her to stay and, when she refuses, asks her to at least tell Dean about the miscarriage and the IVF journey. Mac won’t do it.
These episodes really show how differently people deal with pain. Mac thinks running away will help her breathe again, while Levi wants honesty and closeness. Neither of them are wrong, they’re just hurting in opposite directions. And with Theo’s death still hanging over the Bay, emotions everywhere are running high.
