Landing a role on Home and Away is a big deal for any actor, especially when you’re just 15. For Nathan Murray, stepping into the world of Summer Bay as foster teen Cohen was exciting but also a little nerve-racking. Luckily, he didn’t have to face it alone. From day one, Nathan says the cast and crew made him feel right at home. And two of the show’s biggest stars, Georgie Parker and Ray Meagher were right there to show him the ropes.

Everyone Had His Back in Home and Away Set

Nathan joins Home and Away as Cohen, a young boy placed in Roo Stewart’s care after his mother, Samantha, is arrested. And while the storyline is pretty heavy, his real-life experience on set was anything but.

He told Yahoo Lifestyle that he was nervous going into his first day, but that feeling didn’t last long. “Everybody was very welcoming, the directors, the crew, the actors,” Nathan shared. “If I got a line wrong, they’d all reassure me and help me. They were right on top of everything.” He described the whole environment as supportive and said it made a huge difference as a newcomer.

Georgie and Ray Were Right There for Him

Nathan especially clicked with Georgie Parker, who plays his on-screen foster carer Roo. He said she made a big impression early on, calling her “funny and nice” and adding, “She was always in a good mood, motivating me and helping me with my acting.”

He also had high praise for Ray Meagher, who’s been part of the show since the very beginning. One moment that really stuck with Nathan was a piece of advice he received from Georgie and Ray during those early filming days. “I was freaking out when I first got there,” he admitted. “And then I talked to them and they said, ‘You can change that nervousness into excitement. They’re very interchangeable feelings.’”

That simple idea made a huge difference for him. Now, with his first scenes about to hit our screens, it’s clear Nathan’s already part of the Summer Bay family, thanks to a warm welcome and a bit of wisdom from two Home and Away legends.
