Fans of Home and Away may soon see a familiar face back in Summer Bay. Former star Rebecca Breeds has revealed something. She said that she once had a chance to return as Ruby Buckton. And that she wouldn’t think twice before returning to the show. Now, fans wonder if Ruby Buckton is making a comeback. Keep scrolling to learn more.
Home And Away: A Return That Almost Happened
Rebecca Breeds played Ruby Buckton from 2008 to 2012 and later starred in US shows. She also stated a return was planned, but scheduling conflicts stopped it from happening. “There was an opportunity years ago,” she said. She also revealed that there was a storyline where the River Boys went to England, and they wanted her to come back. But she was working on the show We Are Men at that time. So she couldn’t do it.
Breeds also mentioned that she missed the show but couldn’t participate because of the timing. Now she lives in Chicago with her husband, Luke Mitchell. He was also in Home and Away before. She said she would be open to returning if the chance comes. ‘I loved that show,’ she said.” “I never say never about things. It’s just a matter of timing and place, like we are in Chicago right now.”
She also expressed her excitement. She said it would be amazing to work in Sydney again. “There are many exciting jobs and adventures out there, but we love home. I am excited to return to Sydney and work,” she exclaimed. Fans are excited to see if Summer Bay could invite Ruby back. And Breed’s comments hint that a return is at least possible in the future.
Imagining Ruby’s Future In Summer Bay
Breeds also shared what she would like to see happen if Ruby makes a comeback. She revealed she has hopes to give the character a fresh start. “I want to clear Ruby’s name! She was unfairly treated at the end. It was unfair. She deserves justice,” she said.
Ruby’s story was full of struggles. She lost her mother and turned into an alcoholic. She wants her character to be turned around. And she wants to become a psychologist who helps troubled kids in Summer Bay. She said the show was based around wayward kids who found their way to Summer Bay. And they were fostered and counselled by the community. She thinks that’s what Ruby would do.
Rebecca said filming those tough storylines was very hard for her. She said fans want to see Ruby’s redemption. And also her journey to helping others and showing a stronger side of her character. A potential return could bring closure for old fans. It would also introduce Ruby’s growth to the new viewers. For more Home and Away spoilers and updates, keep following Soap Opera Daily.
