Roo Stewart’s world in Home and Away is about to get a whole lot more complicated and emotional. She’s been pouring her heart into helping young Cohen Luther find his feet, but an unexpected dash to the hospital sets off a chain of events that could flip her future upside down. And while Roo might be convinced she’s doing the right thing, not everyone in her life is ready to cheer her on.
A Scare That Brings Everyone Together
Things take a worrying turn when Cohen suddenly falls ill, sending Roo into panic mode. He’s rushed to the hospital, where Bree Cameron quickly diagnoses him with tonsillitis. Wrapping her in a reassuring hug, Alf tells his daughter to take a breather, promising he’ll stay with Cohen.
While Roo’s gone, Alf strikes up a chat with the teen over a fishing magazine, and sees a whole new side to Cohen. When Roo returns, Alf makes it clear he’s proud of the way she’s been there for Cohen. But Roo’s next words will send the conversation spinning in an unexpected direction.
Home and Away: Roo Drops Her Big Bombshell
Roo takes a deep breath and tells Alf she’s decided to apply to adopt Cohen. The news clearly knocks him for six. He admits he’s not sure this is the right move for her. He points out that he doesn’t want to see her hurt again, especially after Eliza took her for a ride. Before Roo can respond, David Langham shares that Cohen’s mum, Samantha has been sentenced to 12 months in prison.
It’s a development that only strengthens Roo’s determination to give Cohen a proper home. Wanting to be sure she’s thinking this through, Roo turns to Cash Newman for some personal insight. Cash advises her to be absolutely certain before making any promises, because the last thing Cohen needs is more confusion in his young life.
Father-Daughter Standoff
Despite the warnings, Roo’s conviction only grows stronger. She’s convinced adopting Cohen is the best way to give him the second chance he deserves. But Alf isn’t budging; he voices his concerns loud and clear, and the pair find themselves at odds.
According to an insider, Roo feels this is her chance to make a real difference for Cohen. They revealed that her last fostering attempt was nothing short of a nightmare, but Cohen’s seamless adjustment to Summer Bay has been proof he’s nothing like manipulative Eliza.
