Summer Bay may be catching its breath after the Eliza storm, but Roo Stewart is about to find herself right back in the emotional deep end. Just when it seems things are falling in place in Home and Away, another troubled soul enters the picture, forcing Roo to face her past, her instincts, and her capacity to open her heart again.
After Eliza, Roo’s World Was Rocked
Viewers watched Roo unravel after learning that Eliza, who had wormed her way into the Stewart household, had deliberately let Alf suffer when he needed his medication. When Roo confronted her, Eliza admitted she might have wanted Alf to die, sending shockwaves through the Bay. Roo arranged for Eliza to be removed from their care and get psychiatric help.
Despite Alf’s insistence that she give up fostering for good, Roo held out hope. She believed Eliza still had a future, and perhaps, so did Roo as a carer. But tensions flared between father and daughter, leaving Roo torn between her role as a daughter and her passion for helping those in need.
A Child in Crisis
In upcoming episodes, Sergeant David Langham responds to a call involving a woman named Samantha and her son Cohen, who have been living in a tent. During a search of Samantha’s car, the police uncover a stash of stolen mobile phones, leading to her arrest on the spot. With Samantha taken into custody, her young son Cohen is brought to the police station, frightened, confused, and without a clue what comes next.
Actor Nathan Murray, who plays Cohen, shares that the boy feels completely lost now that his mum is gone. According to Murray, Cohen doesn’t see anything wrong with what she did, it was just how she helped them survive. David, acting quickly, arranges foster care for Cohen while his mum remains in custody. The new carer? None other than Roo.
Roo Opens Her Heart Again in Home and Away
While Roo steps up to welcome Cohen into her home, things are far from smooth. Cohen, understandably, keeps his guard up and refuses to trust her. Murray says the boy feels “destroyed” knowing he and his mum will be apart for a long time. Now, he sees Roo as an odd replacement.
For Roo, the wounds from Eliza’s betrayal are still fresh. She questions whether she’s doing the right thing, and if she’s even capable of helping another child. But Summer Bay has a way of throwing people together just when they need it most. Will Roo and Cohen be able to find some common ground, or are they both too hurt to try?
