Jacob Elordi had tried out for Home and Away multiple times with the hope of landing a role before his big Hollywood work. The actor revealed that he kept trying to get into major Australian soaps. But he couldn’t ever make it to the cast. His story was discussed when he appeared on The Graham Norton Show. He shared the difficulty of those times at the beginning. Scroll down to read more.
Jacob Reflects On His Repeated Soap Auditions, Including Home and Away
Jacob said that he tried out to be in Neighbours twice and for Home and Away about three times. He was attempting to launch his acting career in Australia. The actor really had a desire to be in either of those shows. The reason is that they were significant stepping stones for a lot of young actors. He also said that he gave it his all, but the roles just didn’t come his way, at least not at that time.
Presently, he is starring in such big roles as Euphoria and Saltburn. He explained that these two soaps felt like entry doors to the world of acting in Australia since he grew up there. Besides being familiar, many people whose work he admired got their first breaks there. He certainly tried over and over again because those shows were of great importance to him.

Auditions became a part of his routine. Despite nobody picking him, he kept going. And finally, he got bigger opportunities from unexpected places. During the conversation, even Margot Robbie opened up about her early experience before getting her role in Neighbours.
Moreover, she even had to work with a dialect coach. It’s because her Queensland accent was considered too strong for the show. However, she didn’t realise that it sounded heavy until people on set pointed it out. The actress was also told that she was difficult to listen to.
Their New Film Brings Both Actors Together
Both actors now star in Wuthering Heights. Margot plays Cathy, and Jacob plays Heathcliff. Also, the film received reactions on social media. And they were focused on its strong visuals and bold approach. Some critics called the film emotional and captivating.

Other people even compared the director’s style to that of bigger and more expressive filmmakers. Still, the film did not receive only positive reactions; a few were negative too. A critic replied indirectly by paraphrasing the well-known Aretha Franklin remark about “beautiful gowns.”
