Coronation Street: Festive Storylines Setting The Stage

Weatherfield residents already stand on the edge of several major turning points. Gail Chadwick, played by Helen Worth, makes a virtual reappearance just as tensions rise around the Driscoll family’s dinner. Early hints suggest that the gathering quickly heats up, pushing old issues to the surface and setting off a chain reaction that will ripple into Christmas week. Elsewhere, the ginnel becomes the centre of a troubling incident after someone is assaulted.

Even though few details have surfaced, the storyline promises to shock through multiple households as consequences catch up with the culprit. There’s also heartbreak coming for the Webster family, who face a sad loss during the holidays. Meanwhile, Todd Grimshaw, portrayed by Gareth Pierce, continues to navigate his deeply unsettling relationship with Theo Silverton. Todd reportedly feels increasingly trapped in the abusive dynamic.

New Year schedule:

  • Monday, 29th December: 8pm (30 minutes)
  • Tuesday, 30th December: 8pm (30 minutes)
  • New Year’s Eve: 8pm (Hour-long)
  • New Year’s Day: 8pm (Hour-long)
  • Friday, 2nd January: 8pm (Hour-long)

All of these storylines pave the way for ITV’s newly confirmed Christmas and New Year broadcast schedule. ITV has also finalized the final week of 2025 and viewers will see even more scheduling changes as the show leads into the new year. With an extended block of episodes, Corrie plans to carry its festive drama straight through to 2026.

ITV also confirmed that every episode, Christmas and New Year alike, will be available from 7am on ITVX. It will give viewers plenty of flexibility over the holiday period. With major storylines nearing extended episodes, the festive fortnight of Coronation Street promises a lot. Family conflicts, shocking confrontations, and heartbreaking developments will carry Weatherfield from Christmas Day right through to the start of 2026.
