Coronation Street & Emmerdale Fans Beware!!
ITV has issued a new scam warning to Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans. The network had earlier discussed concerns about an increase in fake soap star social media accounts, and now, once again, they have requested fans to be ‘vigilant.’ The statement released by ITV read, “Please be aware that actors from both Coronation Street and Emmerdale are currently being impersonated by scammers across all social media platforms.”
They also highlighted that no cast member ever requests money for messages, meetings, or any kind of interaction on social media. The broadcaster said that they’re ‘aware’ that some of these messages look real because of deep-fake footage, but please be vigilant. “Please report any concerns to the relevant platform,” they added. They want fans to meet cast members via official ‘meet and greet’ events run by ITV Star Tours.

In the summer of 2024, ITV said that these scams have become more frequent and that viewers should indulge in any conversation accordingly. Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley took to her social media in 2023 and opened up when some of her fans were targeted. “FAKE FAKE FAKE. I’ve had so many messages this week regarding this post!!!” she wrote on the post. Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver has warned the viewers about the scam.
