Jack P. Shepherd has straight-up admitted something about Emmerdale that has surprised even the Coronation Street fans. While talking about an upcoming storyline, the David Platt actor openly said what he really thinks about Emmerdale’s stunts.
What Prompted Jack P. Shepherd To Talk About Emmerdale
Jack made these comments while discussing the upcoming crossover episode Corriedale, which brings Coronation Street and Emmerdale together for a one-hour special airing on 5 January 2026. The episode centres on a huge crash that pulls characters from both soaps into the same dangerous moment. This crossover gave him the chance to work closely with the Emmerdale team.

In the storyline, David Platt and his pregnant wife Shona are caught up in the wreckage, with Emmerdale’s Jacob Gallagher and Charity Dingle helping them. But behind the scenes, Jack was focused on how Emmerdale approached the stunt work.
Jack P. Shepherd Says Emmerdale Does Stunts Better
Talking openly about filming, Jack said he learned a lot from the Emmerdale crew. He explained that he had to do a short run through flames and said the whole thing felt exciting and very well managed. He then made his most direct admission. Jack said that when it comes to stunts, Emmerdale has always been better than Coronation Street.

He shared that over the years, Emmerdale’s stunts had consistently gone down in soap history as stronger than Corrie’s. And now, working alongside them only confirmed that notion. He also spoke about the crash sequence itself, explaining that the episode throws viewers straight into car collisions right at the start. Although he only saw bits of it while filming at night, he felt the finished scenes looked great once everything came together.
Despite the fire and destruction on screen, Jack said the atmosphere on set was calm and upbeat. He explained that the cast joked around between takes and were kept comfortable with snacks and sweets. Basically, they trusted the director to keep everything running smoothly. He also mentioned how little the cast has been allowed to say since the crossover was announced back in May. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street and Emmerdale news.
