Kathy Cotton is in a bit of a bind next week in EastEnders, as her secret affair with Harvey Monroe reaches boiling point. Fans have seen the pair grow closer over the past few months, unable to deny the chemistry between them. It all began with a fleeting romantic moment in October when Kathy leaned in for a kiss.
Although both were hesitant initially, their attraction never wavered, and they‘ve since exchanged hundreds of flirtatious moments. They’ve completely succumbed to temptation, sneaking behind Jean Slater’s back.
Kathy’s Secret Was About To Be Revealed
This week, Kathy’s secret came close to being revealed when Harvey fabricated an alibi to hang out with her. With arrangements for Martin Fowler‘s funeral in chaos due to a canceled catering, Harvey proposed that Kathy fill in for the job. She had prepared sandwiches fast when he went in to propose to Jean and Ruby Allen, who was Martin’s ex-wife, but by his return, things had already been arranged with an alternative supplier.
Kathy was disappointed, but Harvey was not going to let her down. Instead, he arranged a candlelit surprise at the allotment, with ambient lighting and fresh food for their little picnic. The gesture of intimacy was enough to leave Kathy breathless. Although initially hesitated, she leaned forward for another kiss before backing away.
EastEnders Spoilers: Jean Seeks the Help of Kathy
Wracked with guilt over his betrayal, Harvey eventually informed Kathy they had to distance themselves. However, when Jean called off their dinner date, Harvey was in Kathy‘s arms again—and this time, both of them let go. Their steamy chemistry was threatened only by Kathy‘s son, Ian Beale. But far from backing off, they resolved to see one another more frequently.
As the affair gathers momentum, Kathy and Harvey celebrate their new secrecy by spending another evening together. But as they‘re on cloud nine, Jean is unaware of the betrayal that’s going on beneath her nose. Jean spends the week attempting to assist Ruby with arrangements for Martin‘s funeral, but her ideas are quickly rejected.
Feeling pushed aside, she seeks advice from Kathy without realizing that Kathy has the guilt of her own. Kathy gives her some wise words, and Jean heeds them, eventually coming to a mutually acceptable arrangement with Ruby over the plans.
Thankful for Kathy‘s assistance, Jean personally visits the Beale house to thank her. The surprise visit surprises Kathy, piling onto her already guilty conscience. Despite feeling the burden of what she has done, she helps with the hasty funeral arrangements—only to be caught again in yet another confrontation between Jean and Ruby.
Will Kathy and Harvey maintain this, or will it not take long for it all to explode in their faces? Only the upcoming EastEnders spoilers can reveal the rest. Until then, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more soap updates.
