Kanye West, now known as Ye, is again dealing with legal strife. The rapper was recently sued by his Yeezy brand employees for workplace abuse. Well, West has been dealing with the charges of sexually harassing a personal assistant and is now at the center of another lawsuit. Attorneys Ben Locklyer and Jordanna Thigpen filed a lawsuit this weekend on behalf of eight people who had worked with Ye.
Surprisingly, four minors claimed they worked on developing an app for Ye’s brand. According to the reports, West was working on his own streaming platform to launch his upcoming album “Vultures 2” with Ty Dolla Sign. This eventually led the app developers, including the plaintiffs, to connect with West and his team.
Although Milo Yiannopoulous, Ye’s former chief of staff, promised to pay the employees $120,000 after the app was completed, it has yet to happen. By April, Yeezy had acquired the app and called it YZYVSN. While this was just the surface detail of the complaint, as per the official lawsuit, the rapper and his former chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulous, created a toxic workplace for their employees.
Developers were connected through the company’s Discord group, which was filled with harassment regarding race, age, sexual orientation, gender, and ethnicity. Not only this but one of the Discord channels was also titled “New Slaves,” and they even called some of the team members by this term. Besides this, the accusers said that West and Yiannopoulous harassed and threatened them to work for long hours without breaks to meet the deadline.
Yiannopoulous also threatened the plaintiffs with cutting their wages. Some of them were 14 years old and still studying, so they had to sacrifice their school and personal time to work overtime to finish the application. Despite completing the app on May 2, Ye has yet to release his new album.
While the complaint suggests that West and Yiannopoulous have forced their employees to work for longer hours, there’s another complaint suggesting Ye’s wife, Bianca Censori, sent a file of hardcore pornography to the YZYVSN developer. It was reported that Ye was planning to launch his Yeezy Porn App.
However, on Monday, Yiannopoulous posted a statement on X that they weren’t working on such an app and denied the claims, suggesting Bianca was involved in this matter. Yiannopoulous wrote, “offensive, disgusting, abhorrent and categorically and wholly false.”
Although Yiannopoulous has denied such claims and called them utterly rubbish, the claims have yet to be overruled. Things have become a bit complicated now. However, the court results have yet to be released.
