The Princess of Wales has a special phrase she uses when disciplining her children, and it’s incredibly effective. As the royal kids get older, they attend more royal engagements, and royal watchers frequently notice how well-behaved they are. But on a few rare occasions, Kate Middleton feels that they’re not behaving appropriately, so she uses a special four-word code to keep them in check.
Royal expert Tom Quinn, in his book Gilded Youth, An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, highlighted that when Louis misbehaved at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by sticking his tongue out at his mother, she apparently used a secret code to calm him down. She simply told her youngest son, ‘Let’s take a break.’ Furthermore, the future Queen doesn’t worry too much about her kids’ behaviour because she likes seeing them like normal kids.

While speaking to OK Magazine, a source said, “Louis is an energetic child and clearly was unable to contain his excitement at being at a public event.” This came after the Wales family’s appearance at the 2024 Trooping the Colour event. It looks like Kate and William choose to communicate with their kids openly. They choose to go for a ‘sofa chat’ rather than isolation when their kids have a temper flare-up.
Along with all this, a ‘no-shouting’ policy has also been initiated in the family. So if any child raises his or her voice, they are calmly removed from the place. In response, the parents also maintain gentle voices to discipline.
