Ken Barlow and Eric Pollard, two characters who’ve been part of our lives for decades, are finally coming face to face. Thanks to the Corriedale crossover, these two legends from different soaps are about to share the same screen.
How Corriedale Made This Meeting Possible
The Corriedale crossover episode, airing in January, brings characters from Coronation Street and Emmerdale together after a fiery multi-vehicle crash. It’s a one-off, hour-long episode where people from Weatherfield and the Dales are thrown into the same chaos and forced to deal with the fallout together.

Earlier this year, fans were even asked who they’d love to see paired up in the crossover. When the trailer was released, it confirmed that characters like Carla Connor, James Bailey, Cain Dingle, and Sarah Sugden would be right at the centre of the action. But for long-time viewers, the biggest talking point was always going to be the possibility of something much more meaningful.
Ken Barlow And Eric Pollard Finally Come Face To Face
Ken Barlow and Eric Pollard finally cross paths during the crossover episode. Played by William Roache and Chris Chittell, the two longest-serving characters from their respective soaps share a brief but very special scene.
Director Duncan Foster explained that filming the moment took a bit of time. He said it wasn’t a simple one-take scene because they needed different camera angles, so it ended up taking around five or six takes to get everything just right.

Foster also revealed that he fought to keep the scene as full as possible in the final edit. When he saw an early version where it had been cut too short, he pushed back. He felt that a scene with Ken Barlow and Eric Pollard together was iconic and deserved every second on screen.
After the crash, Corriedale shows characters from both soaps coming together and dealing with the shock of what’s happened. There’s plenty of drama around them. But for Ken and Eric, it’s different. We’ve watched them age, change, argue, and survive everything their shows have thrown at them. So, long-time fans will truly reward this Corriedale moment.
