King Charles’ royal visit to Australia has taken an unexpected turn, as he faced a persistent wave of resistance from Indigenous protestors for the second day in a row. What began as a typical tour of royal duties quickly evolved into a spotlight on long-standing grievances, as activists demanded the King’s attention. Keep scrolling to know all about it.
The King was confronted for a second day by First Nations activists questioning the supremacy of the British monarchy in Australia. Charles met Indigenous elders during a visit to the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) in Sydney, where one told him their goal was ‘sovereignty.’
While arriving at NCIE, he was greeted by Allan Murray from the Metropolitan local Aboriginal land council. He said, “Welcome to the country. We’ve got stories to tell, and I think you witnessed that story yesterday in Canberra, but the story is unwavering, and we’ve got a long way to achieve what we want to achieve, and that’s our own sovereignty. But welcome to Gadigal land.”
Some pictures of King Charles nodding at Allan were also released. This comes a day after the monarch was accused of ‘genocide’ against Australia’s First Nation by senator Lidia Thorpe who told him, ‘You’re not my King.’ As security scrambled to remove her from the building, she screamed that Charles committed genocide against their people and they should give their land back.

Thorpe also furiously added, “Give us back what you stole from us. Our bones, our skulls, our babies, our people. You destroyed our lands, give us a treaty, we want a treaty in the country, you are a genocidalist.” Despite the chaos, palace insiders reported that King Charles remained ‘unruffled.’ His composure came on the heels of a speech lauding Australia’s First Nations peoples for profoundly influencing his perspectives with their “such traditional wisdom.”
During his visit to the indigenous centre, the King attended the beginning of a smoking ceremony designed to honour his arrival. For more such updates on the royal family, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily! Also, don’t forget to share your thoughts on this news in the comments below!
