King Charles has opened up about why Balmoral Castle is so close to everyone’s heart in the family as he talked about his mother’s final days. He recalled the late Queen’s last moments as he spoke at an event to mark 25 years of the Scottish Parliament on Saturday. The monarch suggested that his mother chose to spend her remaining time at the residence in Scotland as she loved being there.
Furthermore, he also talked about his family’s connection to the Scottish countryside and said his ‘beloved grandmother was proudly Scottish.’ His Majesty addressed the parliament and said, “Speaking from a personal perspective, Scotland has always had a uniquely special place in the hearts of my family and myself.” Royal fans know that Queen Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96 at her Scottish estate on September 08, 2022.

The King also shed light on his mother’s love for Scotland, especially since the Balmoral estate was where she spent her summers as a child and later in life with her husband, Prince Philip. Along with Charles, his sister, Princess Anne, said her mother had concerns over dying at Balmoral, feeling it would be ‘more difficult’ than if she died elsewhere. It looks like the monarch wanted to avoid causing issues to others during her last days.
Royal fans know that Balmoral has been one of the royal family’s residences since 1952, and the original castle was bought by Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband.
