Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are never done making headlines. This time, the Sussexes are back with another major update from their inner circle. So, Meghan’s new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, is set to release, and the same goes for her lifestyle baby, As Ever. Hence, the royal couple is making sure their team is in top shape. Staff shake-ups? Sure. Say hello to a new chief communications officer!
Meghan Markle: New Communications Powerhouse Arrives
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently welcomed Meredith Maines to their growing empire. And let us tell you that Meredith isn’t just any PR guru—she has a stellar resume. Moreover, she has a background in English and Music Composition from Stanford University and a Master’s in Communications.
Recently, Maines was a Marketing Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners. She worked closely with founders and executives to build and boost their brand presence, but that’s not all! She also ran communications at Hulu to manage talent for American Idol, and did we mention she also worked at Google?
Meanwhile, Meredith will join team Sussex on March 3 as chief communications officer. “I’m excited to help them tell their story as entrepreneurs, builders, and philanthropists while overseeing all communications,” she told PEOPLE. Maine’s appointment comes after Ashley Hansen, ex-Global Press Secretary and Head of Communications.
Hansen stepped down in October 2023 to launch her own communications firm, Three Gate Strategies. Additionally, the US-based royals have also enlisted Shahed Fakhari Larson as their outside strategic communications counsel. But hey, what about Meghan and Harry’s history of extremely high staff turnover?
Staff Turnover DRAMA
Over the years, there have been loud accusations about Markle’s alleged “difficult” work environment. Ex-staffers claimed they were overworked, underappreciated, and even bullied. Uh-oh. In fact, their royal years are tainted with a long list of resignations.
These include Meghan’s personal assistant, Melissa Toubati, and their assistant private secretary, Amy Pickerill. Furthermore, the trend followed them in the US, with several members of the Archewell Foundation and their production company departing quickly.
Now, we can’t wait to see if the Sussexes’ new team can help them turn things around for good. Until then, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for your daily dose of royal updates. What’s your take on the new changes?
