Meghan Markle loves to treat her fans with bits of her private life every now and then. We recently saw her “homemaker” side on her latest Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. Now, Markle is back to share some inside scoop, and this time, she’s using a microphone to do it. Yep, the first episode of her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, is OUT! What did she talk about? Find out.
Meghan Markle: Markle Opens Up About Postpartum Ordeal
With her new podcast project, Meghan Markle sets the expectation for an open and genuine discussion. In the first episode of Confessions of a Female Founder, Meghan mentioned a harrowing time when she was diagnosed with postpartum pre-eclampsia after childbirth.
It’s a rare but serious condition that can occur after having a baby. The Duchess of Sussex was spinning out of control when she learned about it. She described how “rare” and “scary” this condition was, and it drove her insane. “You’re still trying to juggle all these things, and the world doesn’t know what’s happening,“ she shared.
However, Meghan pulled herself together and showed up for the people that matter most. She did it for her kids, Archie and Lilibet, and yet the chills of having a rare condition were traumatising. Meanwhile, Markle didn’t clarify if the diagnosis happened after the birth of her son or daughter.
Meghan’s Podcast Gets A Heavy Start
According to the BBC, the condition doesn’t get enough spotlight in public discourse. Meghan’s purpose in bringing it up was to make people aware of it. Postpartum pre-eclampsia is connected to high blood pressure and usually occurs within the first week after delivery. But it can also appear up to six weeks later.
The symptoms include headaches, changes in vision, pain under the ribs, vomiting, and swelling of the face, hands, or feet. If not treated, it can lead to serious complications like seizures, stroke, or organ failure. Back to the podcast, the topic was heavy for a pilot episode, but one can’t deny how strong the messaging was.
This venture is one of her recent projects, alongside her Netflix lifestyle show and her new brand, As Ever. Through Confessions of a Female Founder, Markle aims to create a space for open discussions on womanhood, leadership, and the struggles they face along the way.
