Meghan Markle hit all the emotional notes with a big revelation on the latest episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder. The Duchess got raw about the silent pain of miscarriage and then addressed the challenges of motherhood. Listeners obviously weren’t ready for such a heavy scoop but could feel what Meghan went through. Dive in to learn all about it.
Meghan Markle: Meghan Gets Candid About Miscarriage
Meghan Markle kicked off her highly anticipated podcast by bringing along Reshma Saujani, CEO of Moms First. Their chat was deeply personal, unfiltered, and relatable for women who are effortlessly balancing life, love, loss, and career. Furthermore, the Duchess touched upon the most difficult moments in her life.
It was the miscarriage she suffered in 2020 and she didn’t hesitate to talk it. She explained the emotional weight of having to “perform” professionally while dealing with it privately. Markle explained how one has to learn how to detach from the thing that once gave you hope.
“You have to be okay to let something go that you plan to love for a long time,” she added. In the meantime, Saujani, the brain behind Girls Who Cose, opened up about her medical ordeal. The entrepreneur, who herself suffered a miscarriage while managing a non-profit, felt an instant connection to what Markle said.
Reshma described her honesty as “really insightful” and felt like Meghan was reading her diaries. But hey, that’s not the first time Prince Harry’s wife has broken her silence on this sensitive topic. In 2020, she dished on miscarriage in a New York Times op-ed. She could vivdly recall the moment of loss when she felt a sharp cramp.
Meghan Loves Being A Mother!
At that moment, Markle was holding baby Archie but felt something was terribly wrong. “Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few,” she shared. Currently, the Suits alum is a loving mother of two kids, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet, and couldn’t be happier.
“I love being a mom so much. It’s my favourite thing,” she confessed during the podcast. However, it wasn’t easy for Markle to step away from her little ones and work. She often scrolls through their snaps when they’re apart. “It’s the parenting paradigm… so full on, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” she said.
In addition, Reshma and Meghan’s conversation also steered toward busting the common myth about working women. The duo doesn’t believe that the ladies always have to choose between being successful and present mothers. For them, motherhood and leadership aren’t mutually exclusive.
