‘The Tig’ Details Meghan’s Relationship With Her Father
Meghan Markle’s now-closed blog, The Tig, revealed her challenging relationship with her father, Thomas Markle Senior. The Duchess of Sussex has been estranged from her father for six years now. Launched in 2014, the blog shared personal insights into her life, including her passions for food and travel.
Sadly, it shut down in 2017, just before her wedding to Prince Harry, which marked the end of her ties with her father. A particularly touching post for Father’s Day reflected on their once-close bond. It recounted cherished childhood memories together.

At the time, Meghan recalled how her father would uphold their tradition of enjoying club sandwiches and fruit smoothies after her tap and ballet classes. Her father diligently drove her on Saturday mornings despite his demanding 75+ hour work weeks as a lighting director.
She also reflected on how her father applied his expertise in lighting to enhance her school performance. Meghan penned, “To my dad – my thoughtful, inspiring, hardworking Daddy – Happy Father’s Day.” She added a quote that held personal significance between them.
Archie & Lilibet Have ‘Never’ Met Their Maternal Grandfather
In another post, the Duchess of Sussex remembered how her father demonstrated thoughtfulness by ensuring the dolls she received as a Christmas gift reflected her biracial heritage and diverse family composition. She described finding her ‘Heart Family’ on Christmas morning, consisting of a black mom doll, a white dad doll, and children of both races.
In an interview in 2021, Meghan revealed her deep sadness as her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have never met her father. Meanwhile, Archie and Lilibet have limited contact with Harry’s family as well. However, King Charles is eager to improve that.
