Meghan Markle To Face A New Legal Battle
Meghan’s half-sister has launched a fresh legal battle against the Duchess, who she claims portrayed her as a ‘lying, racist, fame-seeker.’ Meghan’s older sister accused the Suits alum of making ‘false and malicious lies’ about her fairytale ‘rags to royalty’ upbringing.
However, a US court in March dismissed the defamation against Meghan. Now, Samantha is appealing against the court ruling and accused her sister of discrediting her, according to The Sun.
Several court documents that the news outlet obtained show that she alleged Meghan of discrediting her. She said, “Meghan knew what she was doing, and how to do it,” Samantha alleged. “She destroyed Samantha publicly and on a global scale.” It was also alleged that Meghan “has made it so Samantha cannot work, or even enjoy the most mundane of activities, like going to the grocery store without harassment.”
Furthermore, Samantha’s lawyers are supposedly highlighting that the judge failed to take into account the implied defamation created by omitting facts. They are also claiming that Meghan’s suggestion that she didn’t know her sister growing up aimed to discredit a book Samantha wrote about her.
These claims have hurt the older sister’s personal and professional reputation. As per the publication, Samantha’s lawyers want to set a date for an oral hearing, but no date has been set yet.
