Prince Harry has once again made it to the headlines, and this time, it is related to a legal matter. The Duke has been accused of destroying potential evidence in his High Court phone hacking claim against News Group Newspapers, the publisher of The Sun. Is The Duke Of Sussex Hiding Evidence?
As per reports, The Duke of Sussex has two encrypted hard drives which had work documents from his staff’s shared drive to which he didn’t have access. But, right before Thursday’s hearing, the hard drives were found. NGN has sought the release of emails, texts, and messages which were sent and received by the Duke and material held on both drives.
When the publisher asked for the communication records, Prince Harry’s lawyer said that he spoke to everyone via Signal, and their chats had been wiped. The whole issue began when Harry and dozens of other claimants, including Hugh Grant, sued News Group Newspapers (NGN) over claims of reporters and private investigators using unlawful information-gathering tactics.

The Sun’s attorney, Anthony Hudson, said at the High Court that Prince Harry had deliberately destroyed text messages with the ghostwriter who penned his bestselling memoir, Spare. The Sun’s lawyer said that the Duke is engaging in shocking obfuscation by destroying evidence.
In response to this, Harry’s lawyer, David Sherborne, said NGN was engaging in a ‘classic fishing expedition’ by seeking documents they should have sought much sooner for a trial scheduled in January.
Furthermore, Mr. Hudson said that Harry had created an ‘obstacle course’ to getting documents they were seeking from his former lawyer and staff when the Duke was a senior working royal member. “If the claimant wanted his documents from his former solicitors’ or from the royal household … he would have got them,” he said.

This whole case came into action after Harry and 40 other individuals sued NGN over alleged unlawful information-gathering and invasion of privacy. A trial date for the case has been set for January. The hearing is the latest in Harry’s battles against Britain’s biggest tabloids over alleged phone hacking and hiring private investigators to use unlawful measures to dig up information on him.
