Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting ready for an unofficial world tour. But it seems they’ve been advised to uncheck Australia from their list of destinations. Why so? It is because the Sussexes can’t visit places that King Charles and Camilla are scheduled to go.
And the senior royal couple has plans to visit Australia in October. If you’re an ardent royal family follower, you must know what went down after the Sussexes’ Nigerian trip. It clearly didn’t sit well with the Royal Family. So, is there another stir on the horizon?
The Sussexes Advised Against Visiting Australia
Earlier in May, Prince Harry and Meghan visited Nigeria and had a blast while exploring their culture. However, King Charles and Prince William were reportedly upset because the Nigeria trip came off as an official royal tour. And it’s not encouraged for the Sussex to engage in royal affairs since they stepped down from their royal duties in 2020. Moreover, royal reporter Louise Roberts points out something that might give birth to another riot.
Louise told Sky News Australia that Harry and Meghan’s travel plans to Australia would clash with Charles and Camilla’s official tour. Subsequently, the US-based royals might have to withdraw their plans to go to the Down Under. Earlier, the Nigeria trip particularly rattled King Charles. The Reigning Monarch saw it “as an attempt to undermine the monarchy in the Commonwealth.”
Additionally, the British royal family was fretting that the couple might be going rogue. According to royal expert Tom Quinn, it’s almost as if the Sussexes are sending a message to Charles and William. “We don’t need your permission to be working royals, we’ll do it on our own terms whenever and wherever we like.” Furthermore, their speeches and behaviour in Nigeria gave off the vibe that they are still active royals.
This is the very perception that Charles and his eldest son “don’t like one bit.” In January, Harry and Meghan visited Jamaica, which still regards the British King as head of state. With their trip to Nigeria, the Invictus Games founder expressed a desire to do more of these kinds of trips. And boy, has it not gone unnoticed by the royal family. Robert noted, “(Harry and Meghan) are obsessed with privacy, but a world tour is a direct contradiction.”
