Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down from their royal responsibilities in 2020 and moved to California. While in the UK, the couple used to live in the Frogmore cottage after their wedding. However, when the duo left Britain, they moved to a beautiful mansion in Montecito, California. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to a property in a popular celebrity hotspot, and they currently reside there with their kids, Archie and Lilibet. Let’s take a sneak peek at their £12m dreamy home.
A Sneak Peek Into Meghan & Harry’s Dream House
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been living in their nine-bedroom California home for over four years. They moved ‘in secret’ to their massive mansion in secluded Montecito in July 2020, just a few months after officially stepping down as working royals.
This house really is a dream house, and it is to die for. Along with having celebrities as your neighbours, it sits on 5.4 acres of land. It has nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, along with a tennis court, tea house and two-bedroom guest house.
Moreover, there is even a chicken coop named ‘Archie’s Chick Inn’ which has rescued hens. It has a pool and a pool house, and two palm trees are joined together at the bottom. The couple has treated their fans to glimpses of their multiple living spaces on several occasions, showing the mansion’s minimalist vibe. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry share an office with a single desk placed in front of a fireplace. The house also has a grand piano which was gifted to them by actor and friend Tyler Perry.

Despite all the luxurious things, this dream home requires a lot of work and maintenance, according to Eric Bramlett, realtor and owner of Bramlett Residential in Austin, Texas. While speaking to the Fabulous magazine, Eric mentioned, “Managing a $14 million mansion like Harry and Meghan’s in Montecito takes a lot of work. Even for modern luxury homes that big, you need a good-sized staff and high operating costs.”
Furthermore, he highlighted that Meghan Markle’s house definitely needs 10-15 full-time staff, which includes housekeepers, chefs, and security for maintenance. “Just paying the staff salaries, utilities, landscaping, maintenance, security, and more could easily cost hundreds of thousands annually. Big renovations and repairs like roofing, HVAC, and appliances would cost even more sometimes,” Bramlett added.
Even though this mansion sounds like a dream, luxury living comes at a cost, and the Duke and Duchess can afford it with their current net worth. For more updates on the Royal family, keep following Soap Opera Daily!
