Was it Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s choice to leave the UK? The new revelation says it wasn’t! The Duke of Sussex recently returned to his homeland, but it wasn’t pleasant. He was there to win back the tax-funded security for his family. But guess what? Harry’s legal team made some wild claims. Catch the full tea below.
Prince Harry: Were Sussexes Pushed Out of the UK?
During the court hearing, Prince Harry’s legal team said the Sussexes were “forced” to quit as working royal members. Why? “They [Harry and Meghan] considered they were not being protected by the institution,” the statement claimed. Moreover, Harry’s lawyer, Shaheed Fatima KC, revealed that the US-based royals wished to continue.
According to her, they wanted to support the late Queen without relying on taxpayer money. However, the British royal family didn’t welcome their wish to be privately funded members. In 2020, Harry and Meghan wanted to spend time in both Britain and the USA. However, they permanently relocated to North America following their “Megxit” announcement.
Since then, they cut all ties with the royal family and suffered serious consequences. Their move led to the loss of their official royal security, which Harry believes was unfair. Furthermore, Harry’s side argues that the monarchy didn’t handle the removal of their security through the expected formal process.
It usually involves an official meeting conducted by RAVEC, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee to discuss such critical matters. However, in the Duke’s case, his security situation was decided in a small, informal meeting at Buckingham Palace. It clearly bypassed the standard procedures and lacked proper justification.
Court Rejects Harry’s Plea to Restore Security
In addition, the Invictus Games founder thinks the monarchy deliberately placed him in an “Other VIP“ category. It offered him less security than even non-royal celebrities. Harry’s legal representatives describe this treatment as “unlawful and unfair.“ They believe the reduced security put Charles’ younger son and his family at greater risk.
In fact, Harry has admitted to not feeling safe when bringing Meghan and their kids back to the UK. He considers the risks too high without adequate security measures. Despite his efforts, the British courts have not issued a judgement in his favour. Back in February 2024, the High Court turned down his plea to restore their security arrangements.
Additionally, Harry is now responsible for covering 90% of the Home Office’s legal expenses. Ouch, that’s brutal! Don’t miss out on more scoop on Prince Harry at Soap Opera Daily. Should the court rule in Harry’s favour? We’d love to hear your views in the comments below.
No Harry the Traitor and his nasty greedy wife should not be allowed security.
They are not working Royals and should pay for their own body guards.
This is Markle doing wanting security like if she is a Queen or Princess.
