The Duke of Sussex has been a vocal advocate throughout his life. It is the latest HIV related project he is working on. The royal fans will know that earlier in 2006, he established Charity Sentebale 2006. Prince Harry wanted to help the children suffering from HIV and AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana. Prince Harry Carries Princess Diana’s Torch!

Prince Harry is following the footsteps of his mother. She worked to end the stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS. In 1987, she opened the U.K.’s first hospital unit to take care of patients with the virus at London Middlesex Hospital. Furthermore, a photo from the event showed Princess Diana shaking hands with the HIV patient without wearing gloves.

At that time, when people were still fearful about getting HIV from touching the patient, she wanted to show that it couldn’t be passed through touch. Princess Diana said that the disease doesn’t make people dangerous. They can still shake hands and hug them.

Elsewhere, UNAIDS warned that the effect of the recent funding cuts is being experienced by countries with high HIV rates. It is leading to shortages of community health workers and data collectors. If funding isn’t fully restored, it could lead to 6 million new HIV infections and 4 million deaths between 2025 and 2029.

Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex said that the babies are currently being born with HIV as their mothers weren’t able to get the full treatment. Thus, the crisis could affect anyone. Thus, cutting costs could betray the progress of the millions who depend on the services. Do you agree with his views? Share your opinions in the comments.
