The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly have bought a new holiday home in sunny Portugal. This property is said to be close to Prince Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack’s holiday home, too. This is an exclusive Costa Terra Gold and Ocean Club designed by Denton House. Now, the locals near Harry and Meghan’s home are voicing concerns over wealthy foreigners purchasing several coastal properties.
Developers were once barred from building on public beaches in a way that would restrict access, but new regulations have given officials the power to designate a beach as ‘private.’ This move has led to several natural beauty sites being taken away and built on, which prevents locals from being able to access them. One of the locals said, “Worst thing to happen to the Portuguese coast. It’s a typical greed situation. Taking land and property from locals who have been enjoying it for years.”

Another local resident, Diana Queiroz, wrote, “I have been going to this place for years, camped there several times, and, because of this company, this is no longer possible.” This new home sits on a stunning stretch of beach in the Algarve, said to be relatively untouched by tourism, making it a popular holiday destination for the rich and famous.
Prince Harry and Meghan bought this property recently while the couple currently resides in a £23.6 million mansion in Montecito, California, near celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Katy Perry.
