Princess Diana’s Secret Letters Up For Auction
Princess Diana’s private letters to her family’s former housekeeper have just been uncovered. They give us a peek into Prince William and Harry’s childhood. Let us tell you that Diana sent these never-before-seen notes to Violet Collison, lovingly called Collie, who was the head housekeeper at Park House on Sandringham Estate.
It’s the same place where Diana grew up. One of her letters said, “William adores his little brother and spends the entire time pouring an endless supply of hugs and kisses over Harry.” It will be auctioned at Sworders in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex.
Collie, who witnessed Diana’s births, stayed close to the family until she passed away in 2013 at age 89. The letters cover everything from before her marriage to Charles to Prince William and Harry’s early years.
The collection has a Christmas and New Year’s card from 1994 with a lovely picture of the Princess of Dales and her sons. And guess what? There’s also a double-sided letter on Buckingham Palace notepaper, dated July 8, 1981—just three weeks before the Royal Wedding.
Lady Diana’s Letters To Be Sold For £800-1,200
The letter, still in the original envelope with Diana’s handwriting, is set to sell for £800-1,200. Another letter, written by Diana from Kensington Palace on September 25, 1984, thanks Collie for a gift to Harry. Diana wrote, “William adores his little brother & spends the entire time pouring an endless supply of hugs & kisses over Harry.”
Most of Diana’s letters are thank-yous for Christmas and birthday presents for her and her kids. They often include little updates about Diana’s life at that time. Two fascinating items are up for auction: Collie’s invitation to the Royal Wedding on July 29, 1981, and her ticket for Princess Diana’s funeral on September 6, 1997.
