The UK’s most loved royal members, Princess Kate and Prince William, are back to sprinkle some magic! On May 20, Buckingham Palace hosted a garden party hotspot, but it wasn’t your average sunny celebration. It was Kate and Wiliam’s first garden party appearance in two years. Yep, the future Queen skipped last year’s soirée as she was undergoing cancer treatment. Dive in to get the lowdown!
Princess Kate: Kate Returns to Charles’ Tea Party!
Princess Kate has avoided royal events since she was diagnosed with cancer. Yet William has kept up with the traditions and attended the garden event with his royal cousins. But this year, Catherine not only made the comeback but also glowed in her outfit. It had a story behind it!
The Princess, 43, walked around the palace lawns wearing a sunshine-yellow Emilia Wickstead dress. Additionally, she paired it with a Philip Treacy, and it was a deja vu moment. It turns out that William’s wife wore the same hat at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding seven years ago.
Meanwhile, she wore diamond Robinson Pelham earrings, adding another nostalgic touch. It was from her wedding day to Prince William in 2011. Now, let’s talk about the Prince of Wales, who excelled at complimenting her wife’s fashion vibes! He made his appearance while rocking a crisp suit and top hat.
The royal couple mingled with thousands of guests on those iconic palace lawns, continuing the late Queen Elizabeth’s tradition. Furthermore, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, explained, “She needs to stand out for people to be able to say ‘I saw the Queen.”
Kate Follows Liz’s Outfit Strategy
Well, Kate understood the assignment and chose bright colors for the event. Earlier this year, she kept her fashion choices private to keep the spotlight on her charitable work. In fact, Kensington Palace even issued a statement back in February regarding it.
Yet, Catherine brought the glow-up to the garden party while other familiar faces joined the gathering. These include Princess Eugenie, Zara Tindall, Prince Edward, Sophie, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. Everyone rolled in around 4 p.m., climbing the palace staircase, chanting, “God Save The King.”
As for the menu, guests were treated to sandwiches, tea, and yummy mini-cakes. Moreover, the event included special attendees photographer Liz Hatton’s family, Holocaust survivor Steven Frank, and legendary Tony Hudgell. In total, King Charles hosts several garden parties each year with nearly 30,000 guests.
The royals do get to chat with him as they stroll through the garden ‘lanes.’ Isn’t it wonderful? Don’t forget to check out Soap Opera Daily for the latest tea on Princess Kate. What do you think about Kate’s look?
