Sabrina Carpenter’s arrival on BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend took the fans by surprise! The Nonsense singer joined Coldplay for a live performance of their 2014 hit “Magic” at the BBC event in Luton, England. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin shared a bit of nostalgia with the crowd before bringing out the pop star. He wrote on X/Twitter, “We’ve been playing this one Big Weekend since we were basically children.”
Chris added, “The reason we play one Big Weekend is because without Radio 1, we would never have kept our jobs.” Next, fans humorously introduced Carpenter, lauding her as younger, more beautiful, and more successful. With the audience excited, the British singer added, “Welcome, from America, U.S.A., Sabrina Carpenter, let’s go!” Carpenter, equally thrilled, replied, “Give it up for Coldplay! What the hell?”
And let us tell you that the 25-year-old singer received a warm reception as she joined Martin on stage. She captivated everyone by adding her sweet voice to the song’s chorus. According to a fan-captured clip on X/Twitter, Martin hinted at Carpenter’s guest appearance by improvising some “Espresso” lyrics during “Fix You.” The British rock band is famous for inviting guest stars during their Music of the Spheres tour.
This time around, they began the performance with a simple intro. The boy band harmonized with Carpenter on lines like, “Call it magic/ Call it true/ I call it magic/ When I’m with you.” Interestingly, a visual of a man trapped in a top hat trying to hold onto a woman blowing away played behind them. During their set, Coldplay, consisting of Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion, performed hits like “Viva La Vida” and “Paradise.”
At the same event, Carpenter rocked solo with her rumored boyfriend Barry Keoghan watching and cheering from the sidelines. The pair have been rumored to be dating since December 2023. Fan videos on TikTok showed the On My Way singer singing and grooving to her hit “Espresso.” She was wearing an orange halter dress and white go-go boots.
Additionally, Sabrina also performed popular tracks like “Fast Times,” “Vicious,” and “Because I Liked a Boy.” Before the event, The Sun reported that Keoghan would be attending. And boy, did it add to the buzz around their speculated relationship! We’re sure Sabrina and Coldplay’s collaboration was one hell of a ride for the fans of both artists! Do you agree?
