The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, recently celebrated her 65th birthday. Amid the celebrations, the duchess offered some health updates about the recent scare she faced. On the happy occasion, she attended an event in London to raise vital funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Afterwards, Sarah shared a statement on social media, as a reflection of her past year.
“Thank you for all of your wonderful birthday wishes! I’m feeling incredibly grateful to be here every day, to smell the flowers, to read and write, and to be able to see my daughters and my grandchildren,” Sarah Ferguson wrote on Instagram. Furthermore, the duchess added that the year had been full of growth and recovery and that she feels extremely lucky. She also thanked everyone for sending in their birthday wishes.
Along with her Instagram statement, Sarah also shared a picture of herself holding a cute and delicious-looking cupcake. Prince Andrew’s ex-wife faced two health scares in the past year. She was diagnosed with breast, as well as, skin cancer. Thankfully, she received treatment in time for both ailments and is well on her way to recovery.
She revealed that she has to be checked regularly and needs to put cream on her face to get past sun damage, which means big blisters on her face, chest, and hands for three weeks. “But I’m not doing immunotherapy, taking any drugs, or doing chemotherapy, for which I’m very grateful,” Sarah asserted.
The Duchess admitted that she has always been honest with her daughters about everything and that they know if they ask her something, they will get a straight answer. Thus, when they asked her for the truth about her health, she told them she was free of cancer, and they were relieved.
