Selena Gomez is taking on “one of the most challenging things” she’s ever done by starring in her new flick. The Calm Down had done the unthinkable in the Spanish-language musical crime comedy called Emilia Pérez. In the movie, Gomez portrays the wife of a Mexican drug cartel leader named Emilia Pérez. Saldana told Variety, “I knew it was going to stand out because of the story,” But she was excited because out of all the topics that Jacques could be making a film about, he chose this one.” Moreover, the Spanish comedy had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, May 18. It will hit the theatres in France on August 28, 2024. The musical is divided into four acts and features original songs the cast performs.
