Shaun Returns To Stage With A Twist On A Classic Villain

Shaun had first appeared in Portsmouth two years ago. He even remembers the whole experience because the panto was created entirely within one theatre. Large companies sometimes run pantos and produce many different shows. However, this one was different. It was because everyone stayed together in the same building. And that’s why it was special for the actor.

He also remembered playing Captain Hook. He called it meaty when he was talking about the crocodile. And now he will step into Aladdin. Shaun also called both Peter Pan and Aladdin classics. And that he enjoys the fact that both Hook and Abanazer are iconic villains. However, he also said that the new directors are pushing him to try different directions. He wanted to keep it fun and not too serious.

Elsewhere this year, he will be playing Aba-Barry-Nazer. And it was a clear nod to his memorable BBC character. He said that the actor wants power, wealth, the princess and recognition. And this makes the role playful. He even revealed that when the crowd used to boo him, he actually enjoyed it.

EastEnders Memories Still Follow Him

He enjoyed being a part of panto at The Kings. He even praised the theatre and called it a beautiful Matcham building with history. He also said that many in-house people still work there even after two years. And that shows people want to stay because it is a good place. Panto also plays a role in people’s lives. It is because people go there as children, then return with their own children. He also wants to go to panto with his grandchildren one day.

EE/Shaun still remembers his BBC soap character.

When he was talking about Barry, he said that this BBC character still follows him. He even brought that on himself by appearing in other shows that are connected to the character. At a point, he felt tired of Barry. However, he realised he was lucky because he had a recognised place in the industry.

He also recalled that when he was in the soap, there were only four channels. And ten million viewers would tune in only to watch Dot Cotton fold laundry. And if there’s a murder storyline, it would reach twenty million. For more EastEnders spoilers and updates, keep following Soap Opera Daily.
