If you’ve been keeping up with Beyond the Gates, you already know things have been intense lately, explosive romances, secrets getting out, families falling apart. But there’s now some surprising news behind the scenes that might just shake things up even more, and no, it’s not about a new affair or long-lost sibling this time.
A Familiar Soap Name Helped Launch the Show
You remember how Beyond the Gates made soap history when it premiered earlier this year, right? First new daytime drama on cable since the ’90s. So naturally, CBS brought in some serious soap veterans to get things off the ground. One of those names is Ron Carlivati. He’s been around the soap world for decades. Started off way back in ’96 as a writer’s assistant on One Life to Live, and before long, he was running the show.
After OLTL ended, he moved over to General Hospital, and later took over as head writer on Days of Our Lives in 2017. He wrapped up his time at Days in July 2024, though the last of his episodes kept airing through April this year. Then, in November 2024, word got out that he was joining Beyond the Gates as a breakdown writer, just in time to help shape the early storylines for Fairmont Crest.
Ron Carlivati Is Leaving Beyond the Gates
Ron Carlivati has officially exited the Beyond the Gates writing team. Michele Val Jean, who created the show and still serves as head writer and executive producer, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter). She said she was incredibly grateful to have had Ron in the writers’ room during the launch and thanked him from the heart.
She added that they were sending him off with love and appreciation, wishing him all the best in whatever comes next. There’s no word yet on why he’s leaving. Was it always meant to be a short gig? Did something change? We don’t know yet. But his presence helped shape those early episodes that fans quickly got hooked on.
What This Might Mean for the Drama Ahead
Beyond the Gates has been on fire lately with everything going on in Fairmont Crest, messy love triangles, hidden agendas, betrayals left and right. Ron’s scripts likely still have some airtime left, but fans will definitely be watching closely to see if the tone shifts once his influence fades.
With Michele Val Jean still steering the ship, we probably won’t see any sudden drop in quality. But if the writing starts to feel a little different, now you’ll know why. No matter what, the drama’s still coming, and fans are definitely not going anywhere. But this behind-the-scenes change is one to keep an eye on.
